Support Safe Spaces

A safe place can be someone’s turning point—you can help build it

When life feels unsteady, safety and support can make all the difference. YSSN's Safe Spaces provide short-term support in a home-like setting at no cost, so those struggling to cope can begin to rebuild stability, safety and hope.

YSSN is aiming to raise $1.5M over the next 3 years to open four new Safe Spaces—welcoming, supportive places where people experiencing a crisis can rest, regain stability, and connect with the support they need.

A place to pause, regain stability, and move forward

Even the strongest among us can face a moment that shakes our balance. That moment can look very different for different people, and for many, that moment comes without a safe, supportive place to turn.

Across York Region and South Simcoe, too many people are struggling with both mental health challenges and unsupportive living conditions. When these combine, people can find themselves with nowhere safe to stay, at risk of hospitalization, incarceration, or homelessness.

YSSN's Safe Spaces are that safe alternative where people can stay for a short while at no cost to them and begin to rebuild stability and hope.

We are lucky to have 310-COPE when we are in need.

It’s a safe and supportive haven where all my needs are met with staff that care and treat me with compassion.

YSSN's Safe Spaces: more than a place to stay - a bridge from surviving to living

  • Personalized Care 24/7 professional support, needs assessment, goal development, connection to the right community supports
  • Dignity & Safety:  Private rooms, nutritious meals, and a calm, home-like environment

Building a Legacy of Community Care

Backed by YSSN’s 25+ years of leadership in community crisis response and 40+ years as a trusted social service hub, YSSN's Safe Spaces are part of a networked community of care that connects people to the right supports at the right time.

Our community partners — including, among others: Addiction Services Central Ontario, CMHA York Region South Simcoe, Community Living Central York, Krasman Centre, LOFT Community Support Services, and York Regional Police, help ensure each person’s journey continues with the support they need during their stay, and after.
