A message of support from YSSN’s Executive Director
The recent events in Israel and Palestine have left a significant impression on everyone this past month, and
media coverage has often been challenging to witness. We have had much to reflect on these past few
weeks and are conscious that these events may affect you and your loved ones in many ways, too.
In Canada, there is a noticeable increase in incidents of both Anti-Semitism and Anti-Muslim racism,
commonly referred to as Islamophobia. Anti-Semitism, Anti-Muslim racism and racism of any sort have
no place here at Your Support Services Network (YSSN). YSSN recognizes the dignity and worth of every
person and has no tolerance for harassment, discriminatory actions and promotion of hatred, racism,
and discrimination.
YSSN acknowledges that racism can have a significant and lasting impact on our communities,
workplace, and families. Our organization is committed to cultivating an inclusive and friendly
environment that welcomes each and everyone. YSSN is devoted to eliminating barriers, eradicating
prejudice, and promoting an environment that is open, inclusive, and considerate of all.
We remain dedicated to assisting all communities in need of our support and extend a warm welcome
to everyone.
In recognizing that these events have felt stressful for many in our community, we wanted to reach out
with some words of support. During such times, it is frequently the smallest gestures that can have a
positive impact on people’s lives. Showing kindness to one another, lending a sympathetic ear to those
in need, and, naturally, taking care of ourselves, our families and communities is a good place to start.
If you are experiencing crisis or just need to talk with someone, you can call our Community Crisis
Response Service, 1-855-310-COPE (2673). Our caring crisis workers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week.
We know you join us in wishing peace and goodwill for all people. Wishing this for you and yours, too.
Warm Regards,
Kimberly Thorn
Executive Director
