Striving for Family Wellbeing to Help Autistic Youth Flourish
June 7, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
It is well-known that autistic youth have many support needs, including support focused on education, development, and mental health. Children’s well-being
develops alongside parent and family well-being; these processes go hand in hand.
This workshop, offered by YSSN Family Peer Mentors and presented by Dr. Jonathan Weiss, describes a framework for parents to identify their stresses and capabilities to help cope with daily stresses, and to take stock of their family’s flourishing.
Dr. Jonathan Weiss is a Professor of Psychology at York University and a Clinical Psychologist. His research focuses on mental health in autistic people, or people with intellectual disabilities, across the lifespan. Dr. Weiss’s work also focuses on understanding and supporting family wellness when at least one family member has a developmental disability.
This workshop is for parents or caregivers of a child or adult with a developmental disability, or interested service providers.
