We offer various sessions and workshops for people who are living with mental health and/or addictions challenges and their families.

Crisis Management Plan Workshop

Learn what a crisis is, how it impacts you and how to develop your own crisis management plan to help you maintain your mental health.

You will leave this information session with a draft plan that you can work on and develop with your supports.

Registration is required for this session.

Single Session Counselling

Get immediate help with an issue related to your mental health.

Our Single Session Counselling offers you personalized support so you can build a plan to work through one of the following concerns:

  • coping with a specific mental health challenge,
  • caregiver challenges,
  • housing,
  • addictions,
  • education,
  • access to community services, or
  • other concern you may be dealing with.

Counsellors will concentrate on helping you build a plan for one or two concerns within the session.

Many people find that they get what they need from one counselling session. Please book one appointment only, so that we can accommodate as many people as possible. If you find that a follow up session is needed, it can be scheduled after you attend your initial Single Session Counselling appointment.

          9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Anyone in the York Region and South Simcoe areas who needs help getting through a mental health issue. No formal diagnosis required.

Mental Health Housing and Navigation Days

These sessions are for anyone 16 years and older, who does not currently have case management support and needs help figuring out mental health resources and how to access available services in York Region and South Simcoe.

Once a month you can book a 60 minute appointment to speak with a case manager so that you can get help with:

  • filling out initial applications for financial assistance programs such as Ontario Works (OW), Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), housing applications,
  • finding information about available community resources, such as, free counselling options, local programs, where to access shelter, food, furniture, community meals, etc.,
  • finding information on supportive housing options in York Region,
  • getting connected to ministry-funded services,
  • requesting short-term supports via Streamlined Access, and much more!

DSO Mindfulness Sessions

Mindfulness is a scientifically proven method of decreasing stress and improving quality of life in a lot of different areas. In conjunction with DSO, York Support Services Network will be hosting 30 minute mindfulness sessions which will incorporate a mindfulness teaching as well as a practice or two. Topic will vary week to week.

Wednesdays from March 3 – June 17, 2021

10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 3:00p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Who should attend?

Anyone in the Developmental Services Ontario – Central West Region and Central East Region (York and Simcoe).

  • getting connected to ministry-funded services,
  • requesting short-term supports via Streamlined Access, and much more!
