DESCRIPTION:Need help figuring out mental health resources and how to access available services in York Region and South Simcoe?\nOnce a month you can book a 60-minute appointment to meet with a case manager so that you can get help with: \n\nfilling out initial applications for financial assistance programs such as Ontario Works (OW)\, Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)\, housing applications\,\nfinding information about available community resources\, such as\, free counselling options\, local programs\, where to access shelter\, food\, furniture\, community meals\, etc.\,\nfinding information on supportive housing options in York Region\,\ngetting connected to ministry-funded services such as Developmental Services Ontario Central East Region (DSO CER)\,\nrequesting short-term supports via Streamlined Access\, and much more!\n\nThese workshops are for anyone 16 years and older\, who does not currently have case management support.

SUMMARY:Single Session Counselling - Tuesdays in September
DESCRIPTION:Many people find that they get what they need from one counselling session. YSSN’s Single Session Counselling program offers support related to:  \n\nmental health concerns \ncaregiving or parenting challenges\naddictions\nother concerns you may be dealing with\n\nOur counsellors use solution-focused approaches to help you.                    \nSingle Session Counselling appointments are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays by video\, phone\, or in office by special appointment.  \nPlease request one appointment only\, so that we can accommodate as many people as possible. After a Single Session Counselling appointment\, if you find that another session is needed\, it can be scheduled.  \nYSSN is funded directly by the Ministry of Health to serve people living within the boundaries of York Region and South Simcoe. If you live outside of these areas\, please do not register for an appointment. There is no fee for the counselling session.

DESCRIPTION:Starting the Journey is a monthly online chat and support group for parents and caregivers of children aged 8 and under who have been diagnosed with autism or a developmental disability. \nThis is a welcoming\, judgment-free space to ask questions\, share experiences\, and connect with other families navigating similar challenges. Common topics include receiving a new diagnosis\, feelings of overwhelm or grief\, starting school\, toilet training\, and accessing funding. \nEach session begins with introductions and a chance to share your story. New members are always welcome—this is a supportive group that generously shares information and resources. \nThe group is hosted by team members from Family Peer Mentors and DS Access.

DESCRIPTION:My Time is a monthly online support group created for parents who identify as autistic or neurodiverse. Whether formally diagnosed or self-identified\, participants are welcome in this safe\, supportive\, and confidential space. \nThis group is for neurodivergent adults who are caregivers raising autistic and/or non-autistic children. It’s not a workshop\, but a space to connect with others who share similar lived experiences. Members are encouraged to unmask\, reflect\, and share their journey without judgment. \nHosted by Maxine Share\, an autistic parent and grandparent with decades of community involvement\, the group offers a compassionate environment rooted in understanding and respect.
